Kasterlee, Belgium

Kasterlee is located in northern Belguim, near Brussels and Antwerp.  It covers more than 21,000 acres and has more than 17, 000 residents.  The town is the result of the 1977 merger of the villages of Kasterlee, Lichtaart and Tielen.  Most of the people are fluent in Dutch, English, French and German.

 

The city is primarily residential and tourism is an important industry.  There are numerous restaurants, hotels and an amusement park.  A performing theater as well as libraries, art galleries and cultural centers are housed in Kasterlee.  Kasterlee was the first  Sister City for Fountain Hills in 2000.
